The 2028 OzSky "Eclipse" Star Safari is an exclusive event hosted by the OzSky Star Safari on the outskirts of Coonabarabran, New South Wales - The Astronomy Capital of Australia.

Our primary aim (apart from showcasing this incredible Total Solar Eclipse) is to provide Eclipse-Chasers and amateur astronomers from the Northern Hemisphere with not only a unique Australian cultural experience, but more importantly a unique opportunity to experience the grandeur of the southern night skies through a number of large, high quality astronomical instruments without the need to transport large telescopes from one side of the world to the other.

This event has been designed as a six (6) night observing extension for Northern travellers coming to Australia to observe the July 2028 Total Solar Eclipse and who are craving some extra time to explore the Southern Night Skies.

The 2028 OzSky "Eclipse" Star Safari will be held during the week of July 19th - 25th, 2028, with an optional day trip in the middle to travel to any one of a choice of sites for the eclipse (to be determined on the day based on weather conditions) and then back to our observing site at Coonabarabran to continue this observing event.

As any experienced eclipse-chaser knows, the choice of location for watching an eclipse is frequently subject to very personal opinions, and is usually subject to change at very short notice depending on local weather conditions.

In order to keep things as flexible as possible, we have curated a small list of suggested eclipse watching locations which are all conveniently located with respect to our night sky observing location, and to enable each individual traveller to make informed choices for their ultimate eclipse watching site.

By allowing each individual to make their own travel arrangements, it affords the best opportunity to structure the trip according to each person's needs or preferences, while also enabling those of us who can't make a choice to "tag along" with others if desired.
